NASA-UAP-D3A, MISSION TRANSCRIPT, GEMINI 7, ANTIGUA, DECEMBER 1965

This document is a transcript of a NASA audio recording from the Gemini 7 mission. It details the recovery of a tape containing crew observations of unidentified objects and particles near Antigua. The recording was initially unavailable due to a technical failure between mission control facilities.

Transcript of a 6m 12s video clip.

[00:00] Chemical control here again. Earlier in the flight, you'll recall at the start of the
[00:06] second revolution, we had a reference to several objects that the crew spotted. This was in
[00:13] the area of Antigua. Due to a mechanical breakdown, we did not have that portion of the tape available
[00:21] for you. This was a line breakdown between Building 30 and our news center in Building
[00:29] 6. Since then, we have dubbed the tape off the master tape here in the control center,
[00:39] and we are now prepared to play it for you. It contains references to sighting not only
[00:46] some particles, but as well as an unidentified object, plus the booster. Here's that tape.
[00:56] We'll play it for you now.
[00:58] Loud and clear. Seven, go ahead.
[01:05] This is Houston. Say again, Seven.
[01:17] Roger.
[01:19] 77, is that the booster, or is that an unidentified object?
[01:35] No, it's an actual sighting.
[01:40] Say again, Seven.
[01:42] Roger. We have several. It looks like there are three up there, actual sighting.
[01:47] Do you have any more information, estimate distance or size?
[01:52] Roger. We also have the booster in sight.
[01:55] I understand you also have the booster in sight. Roger.
[01:59] We have very, very many. It looks like hundreds of little particles going by from the left
[02:07] out about three to four miles.
[02:14] I understand you have many small particles going by on the left at what distance?
[02:21] Four miles.
[02:23] Roger. It looks like a gas or a gas ballistic disintegration.
[02:30] Roger. I understand they're about three to four miles away.
[02:33] They're a gas matter. You're in a polar orbit.
[02:37] Roger. And I understand they were about three to four miles away.
[02:41] They're in a turbine.
[02:45] Roger.
[02:54] Gemini 7, Houston.
[02:58] Were these particles in addition to the booster and the bogey at 10 o'clock high?
[03:06] Yes.
[03:08] Roger.
[03:10] Houston, this is Seven.
[03:13] Go ahead.
[03:15] I have the booster on my side. It's a brilliant body of the sun, just a black background.
[03:21] There's brilliant particles around it.
[03:25] Roger. What direction is it from you?
[03:28] It's about at my two o'clock position.
[03:33] Does that mean it's ahead of you?
[03:37] Seven is ahead of us at two o'clock, slowly doubling.
[03:40] Roger.
[04:09] Four is final.
[04:39] Two o'clock final.
[04:57] Two o'clock final.
[05:06] Nine one, Sagan.
[05:24] Gemini Control here again.
[05:26] The reference in that conversation to the third unidentified object, of course, was the bogey.
[05:38] There were several references to the bogey.
[05:41] This is the unidentified object in addition to particles which appear to be headed in a polar orbit, you heard Frank Borman say,
[05:50] plus Jim Lovell discussing the booster.
[05:54] It was Borman who reported sighting the bogey.
[06:00] This is Gemini Control, Houston, at four hours, 24 minutes into the flight.
